By default, Civil 3D will label Featureline segments at their centre, so that the slopes can be labelled. If the Featureline vertexes need to be labelled, this is changed in the style.
Some styles are already setup like this, however it is important to know where this is configured.
First check the Featureline geometry is at the correct elevation at the vertex points of the Featureline. Check this in the Level Editor. The triangle marker will show this:

If the label is in the wrong place (centred), you will need to change where the label is anchoring to, either the start or end (choose which one is correct). Do this for all components of the tag:
